Representing nearly 2,000 contractors, suppliers and manufacturers, the National Utility Contractors Association (NUCA)is the only organization focusing solely on the water, sewer, gas and underground utility construction industry. NUCA was founded in 1964 by individuals seeking to unify the utility contractors in order to effectively tackle problems and improve general conditions within the industry. It is the mission of the National Utility Contractors Association to enhance and protect the interests and welfare of America and its underground utility construction industry through:

• Developing and promoting programs to construct, improve, and rehabilitate the nation's infrastructure.
• Implementing programs to assist in the professional developments of its members.

The Association accomplishes its purpose by:

• Lobbying public policy makers
• Educating the public
• Developing community and communication within its membership
• Monitoring and networking with other industries
