Those touring the McAninch maintenance facility came away with many ideas on how to better use their own facilities. The relaxed atmosphere gve everybody plenty of time to compare notes.
A tour of McAninch’s state of the art maintenance facility in northern Des Moines was a part of the NUCAS of Iowa Spring Outing. Not many of us get to see a CAT D11R, let alone having a mechanic right there to talk about the machine.
DeWayne McAninch welcomed NUCA of Iowa to their new maintenance facility. He is shown with Brandon Young (Miller the Driller). Following a lunch provided by McAninch, the outing moved to the Briarwood Golf Course in Ankeny for a round of golf. Sadly, DeWayne was not able to join us for golf.
It was a beautiful day for golf. Here Dave Hehr (Hancor Pipe) is shown teeing off on the third hole. Scoring was by four person best ball and flights and prizes were awarded with nearly everyone going home with some kind of prize.
At the NUCA National Convention in Orlando in March, Dave Schmitt (Dave Schmitt Construction) was inducted into NUCA’s Hall of Fame. The Spring Outing was our chance to recognize Dave for this achievement and to congratulate him. Dave is shown with NUCA of Iowa president Mick Pohlmeier (McAninch Corporation).
Briarwood had the carts and scorecards all ready for us, so it was a matter of finding the cart assigned and getting the bags loaded up. A shotgun start allowed all of us to finish at about the same time.
18 holes of golf have a way of leaving a player hungry so a nice steak hits the spot. The dinner gives everybody time to go over the shoulda, woulda, and couldas of the day. Not that contractors would exaggerate their golf game!
